About JANGIS
JANGIS is an information system managed by the Register Centre that stores data on company beneficiaries. Submitting this information to JANGIS is crucial when carrying out financial transactions, entering into agreements, opening bank accounts, or receiving services from financial institutions. If the information about a companyโs beneficiaries does not match the data in JANGIS or has not been submitted, financial institutions may refuse to engage in business relationships or transactions with such a company. The obligation to provide this data is regulated by the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing of the Republic of Lithuania.
The JANGIS system collects data on:
- Direct owners โ natural persons who directly control a company by holding more than 25% of shares, units, or voting rights.
- Indirect owners โ individuals who control the company through other legal entities.
- Persons who otherwise control the company, for example, those who have the right to appoint or remove managers or make strategic decisions. If no such individuals exist, the beneficiary is considered to be the companyโs director or another top-level executive with decision-making authority.
