About JANGIS

JANGIS is an online system managed by the Lithuanian Register Centre, where data about a company’s beneficial owners is stored. It’s important to submit this data to JANGIS when conducting financial activities, making transactions, opening a bank account, or receiving services from financial institutions. If your company’s beneficial owner information is not up-to-date in JANGIS, or if it’s missing, banks and other financial institutions may refuse to do business with you.

This requirement is outlined in Lithuania’s law on preventing money laundering and terrorist financing.

The JANGIS system tracks the following information:

  • Direct owners – individuals who control your company by owning more than 25% of shares or voting rights.
  • Indirect owners – people who control the company through other businesses or legal entities.

Individuals who control the company in other ways, such as having the authority to hire or fire directors or make key decisions.
If there are no such people, the company’s CEO or the highest-ranking executive with decision-making power is considered the beneficial owner.
